Abstract

Measles is the main cause of death in toddlers. Rubella is an infectious disease as the main cause of disability congenital in infants. Measles and rubella immunization is the prevention of measles and rubella disease. However, the achievement of measles and rubella immunization is low due to lack of knowledge and attitude of mothers. The efforts in this case is the provision of health education interventions. The purpose of this research is to determinate effect of health education on mother’s knowledge and attitudes about measles and rubella immunization. The type of this research is a quasi-experiment with One Group Pretest-Posttest approach. There are 20 respondents as the research samples which use purposive sampling. This research was conducted for 6 months from January to June 2019. Data collection used questionnaires which were processed and analyzed by Wilcoxon test and Paired T Test. The result of this research found that the knowledge average of mothers before being given health education was 11,8 and after being given health education was 15,15. The attitude average of mothers before being given health education was 28,4 and after being given health education was 34,6. From the result of research, there is an effect of health education on the knowledge and attitudes of mothers about measles and rubella immunization in Kelurahan Bungo Pasang in the working area of Puskesmas Dadok Tunggul Hitam Padang 2019. It is expected that education about measles and rubella immunization can be given to all mothers and society.
