Abstract
Postpartum depression is an emotional disorder resulting from unsuccessful psychological adaptation during the postpartum period. Its prevalence is 13.53% in Southeast Asia and 11.76% in Indonesia. In 2022, the incidence of postpartum depression in the Andalas Primary Health Care Center area reached 36.6%. Untreated, this condition can lead to instances of suicide and infanticide. This study aimed to determine the determinant factors associated with the risk of postpartum depression. This study is a quantitative research, specifically a cross-sectional study, conducted in the Andalas Primary Health Care Center area of Padang City from June 2023 to May 2024. The study sample comprised 152 mothers with infants between 4 weeks and 6 months. Data were collected via a questionnaire and subjected to analyses including univariate, bivariate, and multivariate (chi-square). The findings reveal that there is a risk of postpartum depression occurrence of 24.3% in the Andalas Primary Healthcare Service Area, Padang City. There is an association between educational level (p = 0,005), parity (p = 0,002), type of delivery (p = 0,019), domestic violence (p = 0,000), husband's support (p = 0,005), family support (p = 0,003), and social support (p = 0,000) with the risk of postpartum depression incidence. However, no statistically significant association was found between occupation and the risk of postpartum depression (p = 0,464). The most dominant factor related to the risk of postpartum depression is the husband's support. In conclusion, the husband's support emerges as the most influential factor associated with the risk of postpartum depression incidence in the Andalas Primary Health Care Center area of Padang City. Keywords: Postpartum depression, Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), domestic violence, husband support, social support
