Abstract

This research aims to examine the effect of self-forgiveness on psychological wellbeing in former drug addicts. The research method used in this research is a quantitative research method in the form of simple linear regression. The respondents in this study were 110 former drug addicts in West Sumatra, using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection was carried out using an adaptation of the Psychological Well-being Scale and Self-Forgiveness Scale. Reliability on the psychological well-being scale is .834 and on the self-forgiveness scale is .815. The findings of this study demonstrate a significant effect of self-forgiveness on the psychological well-being of former drug addicts, as indicated by a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and an R² (R-square) coefficient value of .254, this suggests that self-forgiveness affects the psychological well-being of former drug addicts by 25.4%.
