Abstract

Improving facilities and infrastructure is a solution to increasing the economic growth of a region. This is evidenced by the low level of distribution of plantation and agricultural products from one region to another. The Regional Office of the Directorate General of Treasury of Bengkulu Province stated in the 2019 regional fiscal study that the regional economic challenges facing government administration in Bengkulu Province are a problem/obstacle for Bengkulu Province in accelerating the regional economy. The economy of the people of Bengkulu Province relies on smallholder agricultural activities in rural areas with low productivity. The two main factors that cause low productivity in the agricultural and plantation sectors are the low quality of human resources (HR) and low infrastructure, both physical (production facilities and infrastructure, transportation and communication) and non-physical (marketing institutions). The low productivity of the agricultural sector as a whole has an impact on the high level of poverty in rural communities. In this case, it is important to implement infrastructure development in strategic areas, whether in the form of improving roads or building bridges that connect areas that have low access coverage. With the construction of the bridge, it is hoped that it can improve the economic level of the Bengkulu Province region, especially South Bengkulu district, which is one of the districts in Bengkulu province which has a large contribution to regional income from the plantation and agricultural sectors. It is hoped that the road improvements and bridge construction will provide enlightenment and ease for the community in meeting their daily needs.
