Abstract

Asthma is a chronic respiratory inflamation disease characterized by bronchial constriction. Asthma is divided into three categories based on the level of control that is controlled asthma, partially controlled asthma, and uncontrolled asthma. The purposes of this study was to know the relationship between the treatment of asthma and its level of control. This study was a cross sectional study conducted over two months in June 2015 – July 2015 and September 2015 at Poliklinik Paru RSUD Dr. Achmad Mochtar Bukittinggi. Samples were taken with a non ramdom sampling technique, and 95 respondents met the inclusion criteria. The data were analyzed with SPSS version 17 using chi square test. The result showed 60 (63,16%) patients is patients with controlled asthma, 14 (14,74%) patients with partially controlled asthma, and 21 (22,10%) patients with uncontrolled asthma. In patients with controlled asthma, there were 18 (18,95%) patients who use the short acting symphatomimetic inhalation, 25 (26,32%) patients who use the long acting symphatomimetic inhalation, and 17 (17,89%) patients who use a combination of both long acting and short acting symphatomimetic inhalation. Based on chi square test, there is no meaningful relationship between treatment of asthma with asthma control level to the value of p = 0,906 ( p > 0,05 ).
