Abstract

Background and Research Objectives Pre-marital sex behavior in adolescents can lead to pregnancy in adolescents and sexually transmitted diseases. The incidence rate of premarital sex behavior increases every year. Many things can affect premarital sex behavior. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that affect premarital sex behavior in high school adolescents Private in the city of Padang. Method This research uses analytical survey method with Cross Sectional design. The sample in this study are students at Private High School city of Padang that meets the criteria of inclusion and exclusion amounts to 130 people. The sampling technique used simple random sampling. Data were analyzed univariate and bivariate by using chi-square test with 95% confidence degree α = 0.05. Results The results showed that there was a significant relationship of age with pre-marital sex behavior (p = < 0.05). There was no significant relationship between knowledge variables, parental parenting and information sources with premarital sex behavior (p = > 0.05). Conclusion Premarital sex behavior was mostly done by late adolescents who are generally female sex and raised with not good parenting patterns and obtain the first source of information about sex from the media.
