Abstract

This research is motivated by the implemention of changes in Nagari Abai Batombe tradition that over time there is a change in the implementation of Batombe tradition. The issues contained in this research is how the implementation of the changes that occur in Batombe tradition of the past and present in Nagari Abai. The purpose of the study was to describe the changes in the implementation Batombe tradition and describe factors cause change implementation Batombe tradition. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach and descriptive. Informants were selected by using purposive sampling and data collection techniques used in observation and in-depth interviews. The theory used is the theory of social change initiated by Neil Smelser. This study found that the shape changes in the implementation of the tradition Batombe in Nagari Abai has undergone changes that occur as a result of current conditions, which in principle does not eliminate Batombe as tradition unrequited rhyme include 1) The procedure for implementation of the tradition Batombe of the establishment of the longhouse to traditional ceremonies, from players flocking to the individual players and held deliberations ninik mamak in determining whether the appearance may Batombe tradition. 2) Implementation Batombe tradition includes a wedding ceremony / Alek sieve, removal of the prince degree, and welcomed the arrival of rajo / guest. 3) Equipment in the tradition Batombe include rabab, cymbals / talempong, salung, mic and dressed in traditional loudspeakers commonly used for cultural activities. 4) Function Batombe include entertainment for the community, strengthen the sense of family and learning media.
