Abstract

One indicator of SDGs is lowering neonatal mortality to 12 per 1.000 births. According to WHO 3,6 million for 120 million newborn asphyxia. Neonatal mortality rate in Indonesia caused asphyxia 27%. The purpose of this study is to describe the risk factors of asphyxia in RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang. Research design used is descriptive with the sampling technique is total sampling. Sample of this research is all baby asphyxia in obstetrics and child installation period September 2015 until September 2016 a total of 41 samples. Instrument of research used is a sheet of observation. Processing data by computerized shown in the form of frequency distribution and percentage. Result show most of the baby light asphyxia (73,2%), gestational age preterm (75,6%), childbirth with action (82,9%),old in childbirth (46,3%), age > 35 year (48,8%), low parity (61,0%), and low birth weight (75,6%). Expected helath workers in order to improve the management of the management asphyxia and improve the education and socialization of the health mothers and babies as recommended doing ante natal care at least four time during pregnancy to determine the health of the mother and fetus, so that it can reduce the risk factors asphyxia in newborns.
