Abstract
Singgalang cabbage (Brassicaceae) is a famous local vegetable from Sumatera Barat. These local cultivars are adaptable to the specific microclimate and have more genetic variation. To address the problems of environmental change and production, light modification in a controlled environment can be used to improve it. Recently, urban farming with LED (Light Emiting Diode) lamps has been used in eco-friendly farming concept. Light source of blue and red LED was used as main factor to observe the growth response of singgalang cabbage. The research was conducted under modification of light in controlled environment at the dark room with 4 treatment of LEDs (white as control, blue, red, and mix of red-blue). In the each of treatment have six replication. The growth response of singgalang cabbage was different between each light modification, where these treatment were not better than white light as a control. Plants were grown under monocromatic LED did not show better growth response were compare to white light and mixed blue-red LEDs. This information could be useful for developing urban farming technique under light-controlled environment.
