Abstract

The large number of students who ignore good eating habits and sleep not on time can be one of the factors that trigger the onset of Diabetes Mellitus. Researchers want to know the description of the characteristics, risk factors for type 2 DM, as well as an overview of the level of risk of developing type 2 DM in college students. This research was designed with quantitative methods. This study used a questionnaire of perceived stress scale, SCSDA adaptation, and GPAQ. Determination of respondents selected by purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out by filling out a questionnaire via the Google form and respondents were asked to fill it out and their stomach circumference was measured. The data analysis procedure uses univariate data analysis and is presented in the form of a frequency distribution table. The results of this study were that as many as 83.2% of respondents did not have diabetes mellitus and almost all respondents had a low risk level with a frequency of 95.4% of respondents had a low risk level of DM. As many as 99.7% of respondents did not consume hypertension drugs. 82.4% of respondents have a habit of sleeping late. More than half of respondents 54.5% have a bad diet. As many as 78.1% of respondents have a moderate stress level. As many as 58.5% of respondents have a high level of activity. The findings of this study indicate that almost all Andalas University students have a low risk level, but it does not rule out the possibility of developing diabetes mellitus in the future if bad habits and an unhealthy lifestyle are continued.
