Abstract

Batik Tanah Liek Citra Mandiri is a small and medium industries (IKM) whose business process consist of the production and sale of batik tanah liek. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that cause rejection in Batik Tanah Liek Citra Mandiri. Currently, the rejected products produced are faded batik colors, pattern printing errors and so on. Another purpose of this study is to provide recommendations for improvement so that the production of rejected products is minimal so as to increase business productivity. The method used in this study is Statistical Process Control (SPC), namely Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA). This research has several stages, namely, problem identification, brainstorming, FMEA calculation and providing recommendations for improvement. The stages of identifying the problem are formulated with the critical to quality method and the IPO diagram is then brainstormed so that the details of the problem can be known using a fishbone diagram. The calculation of FMEA is carried out by designing a questionnaire to obtain the RPN value of FMEA by looking at the value of severity, occurrence, and detection. Filling out the questionnaire was carried out through an interview process with workers and owners of Tanah Liek Citra Mandiri Batik related to identifying the cause of reject production The results obtained from this study there are three types of rejects, namely fading, tearing and wrong patterns. The highest cause in each of the causes of rejection is the potential cause of failure of production methods carried out by workers and the use of batik equipment such as canting with RPN values of 191.6, 186.9, and 333.3 respectively where the most critical rejection stages occur is at the dyeing and boiling stages as well as in the mencanting process. The solutions that can be proposed from this study are in the form of designing work instructions, designing work standard operating procedures (SOPs), and equipment control and replacement schedules.
