Abstract

This research was aimed to determine the effect of difference in particle size and amount of adhesive snake fruit midrib as adhesive gambier of snake fruit midrib produced. This research conducted in the laboratory of Agricultural Technology, University Andalas. This research using 2x3 factorial with completely randomized design (CRD) method with two factors and three replications. ANOVA statistical test was continued and a further test DNMRT (Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test) with a level of 5%. Parameters measured were testing water content, density, water absorption, thickness swelling, broken constancy, firmness press parallel to the surface and internal bonding strenght. Result of variance showed interaction of the particle size and the amount of adhesive gambier significantly affect internal bonding strength, firmness press parallel to the surface, and firmness broken particle board produced. And no real effect on water content, density, thickness swelling, and water absorption. The best particle board is qualify for the treatment of particle size 10 mesh filter 20 mesh stucked with adhesive gambier concentration of 20% (A1B3).
