Abstract

Academic procrastination or activities put on the task of the academic done intentionally repetitive by adolescents that can cause negative impact such as anxiety and inhibit the development of adolescent in a academic achievement. One contributing factor is parenting parent. The purpose of this study is to determine the correlation between parenting and adolescent academic procrastination in MTs N 1 Lubuk Basung. The design of this study is analytic correlational with cross sectional approach. The study was conducted to 155 adolescent were taken by proporsionate stratified random sampling. Research instrument consisted of questionnaire Parental Bonding Instrument (PBI) and Tuckman Procrastination Scale. The results showed that more than half of the respondents (52,3%) has high academic procrastination and the majority (96%) of respondents with parenting permissive indifferent has high academic procrastination followed by the authoritarian parenting (94.4%). The results of chi square test showed a significant relationship between parenting and adolescent academic procrastination in MTs N 1 Lubuk Basung 2016 with p=0,000. Based on the research results, it is expected to health centers to coodinate with schools to provide knowledge to parents about parenting and suggested to use parenting more democratic in order to avoid high academic procrastination.
