Abstract

Thesis is the final project that has been a graduation requirement for a student. During their work for thesis, students tend to feel academic anxiety. Academic Anxiety was a pattern that disturbing thoughts and physiological response and behavior. Many factors affect academic anxiety, one of them is adversity quotient (AQ), the ability to endure and overcome difficulties. The aim of this research is to examine the relationship AQ with academic anxiety in students who are working on the thesis at Andalas University. The method that has been used was quantitative measurements using a adapted scale Adversity Response Profile of Maska (2014) with the reliability of 0.920 and academic anxiety scale with reliability 0.910. The data were selected as subjects wit proportionate stratified random sampling method. These samples included 361 people Andalas University students who were working on the thesis. Analysis technique that has been used is the Pearson correlation. The result of anaysis showed a significant negative correlation (r = -0.334; sig = 0.000 <0.005) between AQ with academic anxiety, which mean the higher AQ then the lower academic anxiety. The relationship between AQ with academic anxiety is meaningful and low. Based on these results, the research hypothesis is accepted.
