Abstract

Kata kunci : obesitas, IMT, resistensi insulin, 2 jam postpandial ABSTRACT CORRELATION BETWEEN BMI (Body Mass Index) WITH BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVEL 2 HOURS POST PRANDIAL IN OBESE STUDENTS Oleh MUHAMMAD HELRI ARIF Prevalence of excess weight and obesity are most likely happened in a group of teenagers and adults. Increased blood glucose levels already starting to happened in students with overweight and obesity. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of BMI with blood glucose levels two hours postprandial in obese student. The study design was cross-sectional analytic study, with method of observational survey of 21 obese subjects in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Andalas. Subject retrieval techniques is proportional random sampling. IMT was measured by anthropometric methods. Blood glucose levels were measured spectrophotometrically. The results showed that the average BMI was 28.19 ± 3.22 kg / m2. The average two-hour postprandial blood glucose was 112.39 ± 23.48 mg / dl. The results of the analysis with Pearson correlation test was between BMI with blood glucose levels 2 hours PP with r = 0.042 and p≥ 0.05. The conclusion of this study are a positive correlation with the strength being between BMI levels 2 hours postprandial blood glucose in obese students in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Andalas. Keywords: obesity, BMI, insulin resistence, 2 hours postprandial
