Abstract

The diversity of stingless bees (Apidae: Meliponini) in Lubuk Minturun, Koto Tangah, Padang, West Sumatra had been investigated from December 2021 to October 2022. This study aimed to determine species and diversity of stingless bees at the vegetated habitats in Lubuk Minturun. Data collection was performed at three types of vegetated habitats; anthropogenic area, forest edge, and forested area, each represented by three sites. The stingless bees were sampled using insect net and baited trap. As result, six stingless bees species from four genera were recorded from the study site. Genera Lepidotrigona and Tetragonula were with two species collected, while Geniotrigona and Heterotrigona were only represented by a single species. The diversity of stingless bee at study site was low (H’ = 1.07), while the vegetated habitats were moderately similar (E = 0.66). This indicated the possible instability of stingless bee communities among studied habitats, hence it needs to further investigate which factors influence this condition.
