Abstract

Requests for legal aid that come in every year are increasing. For this reason, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) runs a free legal aid program for the poor as an extension of the Government. This program is a form of implementing justice for the poor. Legal aid shows the role of the state in protecting and guaranteeing citizens' human rights to access to justice and equality before the law. To support this requires an advocate who is reliable in communicating. The communication of an advocate in providing legal assistance is very important so that the wrong communication does not make people unable to get legal services or even their rights are harmed. The Padang Legal Aid House is a place for advocates who provide legal services for the poor to become one of the institutions that provide legal assistance to underprivileged communities in the city of Padang. The purpose of this study was to analyze the communication behavior of advocates in providing legal assistance to the poor by the Padang Legal Aid House. The research methodology used is qualitative research. The results of the study conclude that: First, the communication behavior of advocates in providing legal assistance to the poor at the time of the complaint can be seen from personal factors and situational factors when receiving complaints. Second, the communication behavior of advocates in providing legal assistance to the poor outside and inside the court, can be seen from handling criminal cases, civil cases, state administrative cases and industrial relations court cases consisting of personal and situational factors. carry out their duties in providing legal assistance. Avdokat's communication in providing legal assistance to underprivileged communities in the city of Padang can be seen from the Advocate's Knowladge, Skills and Motivation in providing legal assistance..
