%T ADAPTATION OF MADAGASCAR STUDENTS LIVING IN INDONESIA TO THE PROBLEMS OF STEREOTYPES IN INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION  (Study Edmund Husserl's Phenomenological)

%X Since the establishment of study programs such as Darmasiswa and KNB, as well as the opening of Indonesian university admissions to Malagasy students, they have faced major challenges of intercultural adaptation. This research examines the stereotypes experienced by Malagasy students in Indonesia regarding their origin and physical appearance, drawing on Edmund Husserl's phenomenological theory. A qualitative descriptive approach was adopted, combining in-depth interviews, observations and documentary studies with 9 informants. The results reveal three main dimensions of students' experience with stereotypes: First, the direct experience of stereotypes manifests itself through judgments about physical appearance, social labeling, and the impact on self-confidence. Secondly, students develop cultural intermediation strategies by taking on the role of ambassador, by mobilizing coping mechanisms and by relying on the Malagasy community present in Indonesia. Third, the management of communication misunderstandings involves linguistic adjustments and experiments in minimizing speech in the face of intercultural misunderstandings. This study highlights the complexity of the lived experience of Malagasy students in the importance of stereotype problems on communication channels of intercultural prejudices.
