Abstract
ABSTRACT ASSYFA TSORAYYA, 16108130009. Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Andalas University, Padang. Thesis Title: The Relationship Between Economic Improvement And Divorce Among Padang City Teachers. Advisor I, Dra. Fachrina, M.Si and Advisor II, Dr. Maihasni, M.Si. Divorce cases in Padang City continue to increase every year, every family wants a harmonious and happy family, inseparable from a happy family allowing each family member to have problems that will lead to divorce. The theory used in this study is the conflict theory from Ralf Dahrendrof, it can be seen that the theory of conflict can occur in families so that conflicts occur such as economic problems that result in divorce. This study aims to determine whether or not there is a relationship between economic improvement and divorce among teachers in the city of Padang. The research method used in this research is a quantitative research approach. From the results of the study, it can be seen that there are characteristics of respondents consisting of: (1) respondents based on age are divided into 4 parts, namely: 20-30 years old totaling 26 people, 31-40 years old totaling 23 people, 41-50 years old totaling 13 people and 51- 60 years old totaled 11 people, (2) respondents based on their last education were divided into 4 sections, namely: SMA, DIII, S1, and S2. (3) respondents based on place of residence were divided into 13 sections, namely, North Padang, West Padang, South Padang, East Padang, Koto Tangah, Nanggalo, Kuranji, Pauh, Lubuk Begalung, Lubuk Kilangan, Bungus, outside Padang and in Padang without sub-districts. , (4) respondents based on the number of children from one to 4 children, (5) respondents based on the length of marriage age were divided into three parts, namely, 0-5 years, 5-10 years, and 10-15 years, (6) respondents based on the husband's last education were divided into 4 sections, namely, SMA, DIII, S1, and S2, (7) respondents based on the husband's occupation were divided into 8 namely, civil servants (teachers), private teachers, retired civil servants, trade, private employees, laborers, TNI/Polri, and not working, (8) respondents based on living together after marriage are divided into two, namely, with parents or relatives and own or rented house. The relationship between economic improvement and divorce among teachers in the city of Padang states that the results of calculations using Chi-square (X2) obtained a value of 31.125 using 1 degree of freedom and a significance level of 0.05 is 3.841. This means that X2 count is greater than X2 in the table. This means that Ho is rejected while Ha is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between economic improvement and divorce among teachers in Padang City. To determine the extent to which there is a relationship between the two variables, the value of Phi = 0.51 and the value of Cmax = 0.5 with a result of 51% indicates a moderate relationship.
