Abstract
Eating habits have been a determinant of health status among adolescent. There has been an increase in the number of adolescents with unhealthy eating habits over the last twenty years. The aim of the study is to assess the eating habits of teenagers and its relationship with sociodemographic factors and psychological factors. This type of research is a cross sectional study. The population is all teenagers in Adabiah Padang and samples taken as 205 students. Sampling was done by simple random sampling technique. The data were obtained by using a questionnaire consisting of questions about sociodemographic, eating habits and psychological factors as well as the data processed using Mann Whitney test. The results showed that the eating habits of adolescents median score was 5 to min-max values (1-10). Results of Mann Whitney test of difference scores showed that there were differences in eating habits is significant p <0.05 on sex and parental income adolescents. 3 of 6 psychological factors, eating habits have a score difference was significant (p <0.05), was the "eat so much to stomach pain", eat because they feel angry "and" eat because they feel bored ".Based on this study are expected health officers especially nurses can work with the school to minimize unhealthy eating habits by providing health education on healthy eating habits.
