Abstract

This research examines the role of New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition (New Alliance) in the process of liberalization in Nigerian agricultural sector through Agriculural Transformation Agenda (ATA). This research utilizing the neoliberalism political economy perspective, and operationalize two concepts that are related with this phenomenon. The concept of economic liberalization used as conceptual basis to explain the phenomenon of agricultural liberalization in Nigeria. Meanwhile international regime used as conceptual basis to examine the role of the New Alliance in Nigeria’s ATA. This research applied qualitative method with descriptive analytical approach by using secondary data. The result of this study indicate that the New Alliance has the characteristics of an international regime when it was involved in the liberalization of the agricultural sector in Nigeria. New Alliance play a role by prividing foundation that manage Nigeria’s expectations and behaviors and also had role in strengthen the process of Nigeria’s agricultural transformations.
