Abstract

Consequently, slang which is derived from informal language creates other forms of informal expressions such as jargon, colloquial, and other informal languages that principally belong to slang. It can be simply concluded that Slang appears in different forms because the social groups as the users use particular expression according to their needs. In relation to this research, the writer 5 emphasizes the study on construction of slang in military field, including its other forms that cover military term, code, and related expressions in military institution. Because of the importance of Slang’s existence in the of society, especially the typical phenomenon of Slang in military personnel, the writer is interested in conducting the research entitled An Analysis of Slang Used by Military Personnel as found in The Black Hawk Down movie. The reason why the writer tends to choose this movie is because there are 3 divisions of United Stated armed forces that involved in this movie. Every division have their own characteristics in using a language. The writer assumed there are many slang expression that might be appear in this movie. Meanwhile, the writer assumed this movie is a qualified source for the analysis because this movie is a war and military movie.
