Abstract

This study examines the role of women farmers in the use of irrigation in the organizations of Perkumpulan Petani Pemakai Air (P3A). See how women function in organization and look at womens involvement inthe management structure. The study was conducted in exactly the Nagari Sungai Tarab in Jorong Tigo Batua kec. Sugai Tarab, Kab. Tanah Datar is the establishment of an agricultural organization is an Perkumpulan Petani Pemakai Air (P3A) which consist of officials and members in it, which the organization is still the man who plays a central role in the management structure. The approach used in this study is descriptive and qualitative types of data to strengthen the study also uses a quantitative approach to the questionnaire, this study uses the theory of functional structural. The purpose of this study was to describe the role of women farmers in the use of irrigation in the organizations Perkumpulan Petani Pemakai Air (P3A) Banda Gadang Sawah Tangah Nagari Sungai Tarab, Kab. Tanah Datar. From the results of research conducted within the organization can be concluded that the Perkumpulan Petani Pemakai Air (P3A) males are more active role in the management structure, although there are women and capable, but still a man who comes first, the reason being for women that do not have the ability to take responsibility, then women do not have extensive knowledge about the organization, but even so the task or function performed by the peasant women well enough, they also participate in the process of implementation or non governmental organizations for the improvement of irrigation system Perkumpulan Petani Pemakai Air (P3A). Furthemore, in terms of increasing women farmers welfare in the context of increased production and income, then social welfare organizations are also good since the establishment of Perkumpulan Petani Pamakai Air (P3A). Since the organization Perkumpulan Petani Pemakai Air (P3A), members have gained favor satisfactory to them, namely the production increase, because the members are guided by the parties concerned, the irrigation water well fields members, with no problem then it will have an impact on the result good agricultural and their income will increase.
