Abstract

The research about canopy cover estimation using Gap Light Analysis Mobile App was conducted from March to November 2020 at Prof. Sumitro Djojohadikusumo Conservation Area of PT. TKA South Solok. This research by using a survey method and determining the research plot location was determined by the purposive sampling method. The canopy cover was measured by using the hemispherical photography method by GLAMA software. This research aims to clarify the canopy cover at the Conservation Area of PT. TKA South Solok. The result showed the 0.1 ha plot in this conservation area is categorized as a high closed forest (89.52%). The highest and lowest canopy cover indices were 94.45% and 82.77%, respectively, in subplot eight and subplot 10. It can be concluded that the research location was categorized as high closed forest, which means that the forest is in good condition. Therefore, it is suggested that PT. TKA should keep this forest area from illegal logging so that the area can be protected.
