Abstract
The language used in communication not only in form of spoken language that occurs between the listener and the speaker, but also can be conveyed through written language. The written language is a language that is delivered through the writings of an author or writer through his work that will be read by the reader. The written language is usually in the form of novels, textbooks, magazines, newspapers, and comics. As an object of this study, the writer has chosen comics. A comic is a picture story that uses a casual style. It means that comic shows the daily life language between family, friends, and others. Comics are also part of the written language presented in the form of images and text (written language), because through the picture the author can help readers to understand what he meant. Based on the explanation above, the writer chooses a comic as object because there are many utterances containing illocutionary acts. Therefore, the writer analyzed the types and functions of illocutionary acts in Donald Duck comic by considering the context where the utterances occur. By analyzing illocutionary acts, the actions of the speakers in the utterances found Donald Duck comic can be explicated.
