Abstract
For doing this, the writer analyzes a film titled, “The Big Bang Theory”. It is a TV series with simple and daily dialogues. This film is created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady (2007) and casts at CBS (Columbia Broadcasting System) primarily on 24th of September 2007. The film won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite TV Comedy in 2010. It indicates that the film is watched by many people and they love it. On the other hand, the characters of this film mostly use science style when saying. It becomes an interesting object of this research when the utterances are in science style and it is formed as daily conversation where conversational maxim applied. In this research, the writer investigates the CP by investigating the utterances that obey the maxim. It is the standard of the effectiveness and efficiency of communication to cooperative ends. Then, the writer also investigates the possible reason of the character for fulfilling the maxim. Both maxim and the possible reason are investigated by using the theory of maxim and theory of context where the conversation occurs.
