Abstract

PT. Semen Padang is one of the largest cement companies in Indonesia. The main business run by PT. Semen Padang is cement production and various types of cement are produced by PT. Semen Padang. One of the main ingredients needed in the cement production is limestone. PT. Semen Padang processes limestone in the mining area.Currently PT. Semen Padang has three limestone mining locations which are different distances from the production site. In 2021, one of the closest limestone mining sites of PT. Semen Padang can no longer be used because the limestone resources in that location have run out, this will be a problem for PT. Semen Padang in fulfilling the production needs, because currently only two locations can be used for limestone mining activities, and both locations are quite far from the production site. In limestone mining activities, PT. Semen Padang uses two types of heavy equipment, namely Dump Trucks and Excavators. Because there are only two limestone mining area in PT. Semen Padang, the amount of heavy equipment for Dump Trucks and Excavators needs to be increased so that production targets can be achieved. Therefore, an analysis of the limestone mining process in PT. Semen Padang is carried out using ARENA Simulation software to determine the optimum number of Dump Trucks and Excavators. The ARENA simulation model developed in this study represents the real mining system of PT. Semen Padang. The simulation model is verified using the run-check model and then validated using the Welch Confidence Interval method. Based on the simulation model results, three scenarios are developed. Scenario-1 with the addition of three excavators and six dump trucks, scenario-2 with the addition of four excavators and seven dump trucks, and scenario-3 with the addition of five excavators and nine dump trucks. The results of each scenario are then compared in terms of one year limestone production and also the utilization of the heavy equipments used. All scenarios can fulfill the one-year production target from PT. Semen Padang, while the utilization results from each scenario are different.. Scenario-1 is chosen as the best scenario because it has a higher than scenario-2 and scenario-3, where utilization of excavator increased to 4.55% and dump trucks increased to 73%. This research is expected can aids PT. Semen Padang in planning the heavy equipments requirements in the limestone mining area and achieving the cement production target.
