Abstract

KAJIAN SIFAT FISIKA TANAH PADA BEBERAPA PENGGUNAAN LAHAN DI HULU DAS BATANG KANDIS ABSTRAK Peningkatan jumlah penduduk serta aktivitas pembangunan yang semakin cepat mendorong kebutuhan pokok terhadap sumber daya lahan meningkat sehingga terjadinya perubahan penggunaan lahan yang berdampak pada perubahan sifat-sifat fisika tanah di hulu DAS Batang Kandis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji beberapa sifat fisika tanah pada beberapa penggunaan lahan di hulu DAS Batang Kandis. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah survei dengan purposive sampling berdasarkan secara acak pada masing-masing satuan lahan pada kedalaman 0-30 cm dan 30-60 cm. Analisis sampel tanah dilakukan di Laboratorium Jurusan Tanah, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Andalas dan Laboratorium Balai Penelitian Tanah, Bogor. Parameter yang dianalisis sebagai indikator yaitu tekstur, bahan organik, berat volume, total ruang pori, permeabilitas, pori air tersedia, dan indeks stabilitas agregat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tekstur tanah di setiap penggunaan lahan pada lapisan atas didominasi fraksi debu dan lapisan bawah didominasi liat. Lahan yang telah dialihfungsikan dari lahan hutan sekunder menjadi kebun campuran mengalami penurunan seperti %BO dari 11,40% menjadi 1,73%, nilai TRP dari 62,80% menjadi 51,30%, nilai permeabilitas dari 15,51 cm/jam menjadi 1,41 cm/jam, nilai air tersedia dari 18,73% menjadi 13,72%, dan nilai indeks stabilitas agregat dari 87,68% menjadi 42,41%. Sementara nilai BV mengalami penaikan dari 0,90 g/cm3 menjadi 1,16 g/cm3. Dari hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa terjadi perubahan kondisi sifat fisika tanah dari lahan yang mengalami perubahan penggunaan lahan dari hutan sekunder menjadi kebun campuran. STUDY OF SOIL PHYSICAL PROPERTIES AT SEVERAL TYPES OF LAND USE IN THE UPPER WATERSHED OF BATANG KANDIS ABSTRACT The increase in population and development accelerates the increase in basic needs for land resources. This results in changes in land use impacting on the soil physical properties. This study was aimed to examine some of the soil physical properties from each types of land use in the upper watershed Batang Kandis. The method used in this study was survey method, samples were randomly taken from each type of land use at a depth of 0-30 cm and 30-60 cm. Soil sample analysis was carried out at the Laboratory of the Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University and the Laboratory of the Soil Research Institute, Bogor. The parameters analyzed were soil texture, organic matter, bulk density, total pore volume, permeability, available water pore, and aggregate stability index. The results showed that the soil texture in each land use was dominated by the silt fraction (on 0-30 cm) and by clay (on 30-60 cm). Land use change from secondary forest to mixed garden decreased the soil organic matter content from 11.40% to 1.73%, total pore volume from 62.80% to 51.30%, permeability from 15.51 cm/h to 1.41 cm/h, the available water value from 18.73% to 13.72%, and the aggregate stability index from 87.68% to 42.41%. Meanwhile, the bulk density value increased from 0.90 g/cm3 to 1.16 g/cm3. It can be concluded that the soil physical properties in the upper part of watershed Batang Kandis had changed as the land use changed from secondary forest to mixed garden.
