Abstract

As Middle Income Country in the body of SSTC, Indonesia receives assistance from development cooperation as well as from donor agencies. On the other hand, Indonesia also become an assistance provider towards another South-South countries.in order to promote international development.In accordance with President Joko Widodo's Nawacita, Indonesia wants to increasing role in international development cooperation such as south-south and triangular cooperation. This research aims to describe the roles of Indonesia which is categorized as Middle Income Country in the development-based cooperation named South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC). This research uses Dual Roles of MICs as a conceptual framework which proposed by Jose Antonio Alonso. According to Alonso, the dual roles of MICs consists of two major indicators which are MICs as the aid recipients (recipients) and as aid providers (contributors). This study used qualitative research method with descriptive analysis approach using secondary data. Based on the conceptual framework, this study discovered that although Indonesia as MICs is able to play a dual role in SSTC, Indonesia is more focused on becoming a contributor in SSTC Evidenced by the many contributions, support, provision, and implementation of Indonesia's SSTC program to other developing countries.
