Abstract

Community acceptance of individuals who suffer from mental disorder triggered by the factor level of knowledge and attitudes of society itself. Various forms of error in public attitudes people with mental disorder respond to the presence of construction caused by the wrong thinking patterns due to public ignorance. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between knowledge and attitude of the community with community acceptance of individuals who suffer from mental disorder in the Aro village KTK Solok community health centers. Using analytic and descriptive research design of cross sectional approach.This study started on 20th December to 08th January 2015 with a sample of 347 people with ages 18-60 years old. The collection of data collected with questionnaires measuring instrument, and to be processed and analyzed with chi-square test statistick. The results of high knowledge (76.1%), negative attitudes (64.6%), did not receive (62.8%), there is no significant correlation between the variable levels of knowledge with the acceptance of individuals suffering from mental disorder (p>0.05), and there was a significant correlation between attitude variables with the admission of individuals suffering from mental disorder (p<0.05). Is expected by community health centers to actively by following counselling event which giving room to enquire reply and answer, so that can deepen knowledge of society about things able to assist process healing of monomaniac.
