Abstract
This study was conducted to know the effect of the parity, gestation periode and new born calves sex on calving interval of cross breed Ongole cattle in Lintau Buo district. The result are expected to improve efficiency in cattle, scientific infoemation and guidelines for improving the livestock population in the future. Materials of this study is data from 36 heads of dams cross breed Ongole cattle parity two and three in Lintau Buo district. The method used in this study is a survey method and sampling was done by purposive sampling. Data obtained by looking at the distance of the record and information from IB officials in Lintau Buo District. Variable measured is calving interval as dependent variable and gestation periode and new born calves sex as independent variables. Data analisys using multple linear regressin method stepwise and processing using SPSS 16.0 for windows to seach for variables that significantly corralated with calving interval of cross breed Ongole catlle. Result of this study found the average calving interval is 466.07±125.80 day. The average of parity of dam is 2.50±0.50, gestation periode is 275.44±10.28 day and new born calves sex 0.44±0.50. The results of multiple linear regression analisys is Ŷ = 346.339- 69.678X1+1.041X2+16.303X3. Varibles significantly with calving interval only parity, with a regression = While the other variables (gestation periode and new born calves sex) has not significantly with calving interval of cross breed Ongole catlle (P> 0.05).
