Abstract

This research aims to determine the accountants' perceptions of the opportunities and challenges of the industrial revolution 4.0. This research was done at the Padang State University. The number of samples in this study were 210 respondents, with the method of sampling using the simple random sampling method. Data collection is made possible through questionnaire distribution. The data analysis techniques used in this research are validity, reliability and descriptive tests using SPSS17.0. The result of this research showed that the industrial 4.0 revolution could change the roles and methods of current accountants. Prospective accountants must be able to adapt to the emergence of the 4.0 industrial revolution, because if they cannot adjust the accounting profession, they will be lost. Prospective accountants need to become more adaptive by increasing their insights to keep pace with 4 technological capabilities. As for the opportunity of the 4.0 industrial revolution, it will show the opportunities that had never existed before.
