Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian yang dilakukan di Nagari Panyubarangan Kecamatan Timpeh Kabupaten Dharmasraya ini dilatar belakangi oleh keinginan untuk mengoptimalkan potensi sumber daya lahan melalui kegiatan evaluasi lahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kelas kesesuaian lahan dan potensi lahan untuk pengembangan tanaman kakao. Untuk mencapai tujuan penelitian tersebut pertama-tama terlebih dahulu dilakukan pemetaan satuan lahan yang diperoleh dari tumpang susun antara peta penggunaan lahan, peta topografi dan peta jenis tanah, dilanjutkan tahap kedua yaitu pengumpulan data. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode survei dengan pengambilan sampel secara purposive sampling. Tahap ketiga adalah menganalisis dan penilaian kesesuaian lahan berdasarkan Petunjuk Teknis Evaluasi Lahan untuk Komoditas Pertanian Jilid II (Djaenuddin et al., 2011). Klasifikasi kesesuaian lahan dilakukan sampai kategori sub-kelas dan faktor pembatasnya. Penentuan kelas kesesuaian lahan dilakukan dengan metode matching (pencocokan). Hasil penelitian pada satuan lahan I, II, VI dan VII termasuk ke dalam sub-kelas kesesuaian lahan S3nr dengan faktor pembatas retensi hara yaitu pH, C-organik dan kejenuhan basa. Hasil penelitian pada satuan lahan III dan V termasuk ke dalam sub-kelas kesesuaian lahan S3nr,eh dengan faktor pembatas retensi hara (Kejenuhan basa, dan pH) dan bahaya erosi (kelerengan). Hasil penelitian pada satuan lahan IV termasuk ke dalam sub-kelas kesesuaian lahan Neh dengan faktor pembatas bahaya erosi yaitu kelerengan sehingga tidak cocok untuk dijadikan lahan pertanaman kakao. Untuk mendapatkan hasil yang optimal untuk pengembangan sektor tanaman kakao dapat dilakukan perbaikan berdasarkan faktor pembatas. Kata kunci : Kesesuaian lahan, kakao, Panyubarangan, retensi hara, bahaya erosi ABTRACT The present study was conducted in Panyubarangan, Timpeh Sub-district, Dharmasraya District was motivated by a desire to optimalize the potential of land resources through land evaluation activities. This objective of this study was to determine the land suitability class and its potential for cultivation of cacao plant. In order to achieve the research objectives, there were three steps performed. The first step was mapping the land unit obtained by overlaying the landutilizion map, topographic map, and soil type map, then the second step was a data collecting. The research method was a survey by purposive sampling. The third step were analyzing and assessing the land suitability classes based on. The Manual Guidelines for Land Evaluation on Agricultural Commodities Volume II (Djaenuddin et al., 2011). The classification of land suitability was performed up to the sub-class category and its limiting factors. Determination of the land suitability classes was carried out using the matching method. The results of the present study at Panyubarangan in the land units I, II, VI, and VII included in the land suitability sub-class S3nr which has nutrient retention as limiting factor, namely pH, C-organic, base saturation. In the land suitability in land units III and V included in the land suitability sub-class S3nr,eh which has nutrient retention as limiting factor (base saturation and pH) and erosion hazard due to slope as limiting factor. The results of land suitability on land unit IV included in Neh with the limiting factor was a erosion hazard due to slopes, so it is not suitable for cultivation of cacao plants. To be obtain optimal results for the development of the cacao plant sector improvements action can be taken made based on the limiting factors.
