Abstract

increase in the stigma discrimination, so that treatment for PLWHA is not optimal. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of a brief intervention on public health nurses on knowledge, stigma discrimination and willingness to care for PLWHA in Palembang. The design of this study is the Quasy Experiment Pre-Post Test With Control Group. A samples is 48 nurses consisting of 24 intervention group nurses and 24 control group nurses. The sampling technique uses total sampling. Data were analyzed using Independent Samples T-test. Result of this research showed that there was a significant influence on knowledge (p value = 0.015), stigma discrimination (p value = 0.020) and willingness to care (p value = 0.027). The conclusion of the a brief intervention method is effective in improving knowledge, stigma discrimination and the willingness to care of PLWHA. Suggestions for a brief intervention method can be used by Puskesmas as innovations in conveying information especially of HIV / AIDS programs.
