Abstract

Motorcycle is one of the most widely used types of land transportation by the public. Increasing the number of motorcycles increases motorcycle service and the high demand for AHASS AA Motor parts as one of the workshops and distributors of motorcycle parts in Rimbo Bujang, Jambi. Based on the interview with the head of the workshop warehouse, there is no standard policy to manage the procurement of spare parts in AHASS AA Motor. Because there is no decent policy for managing stock, many types of spare parts are out of stock. Fluctuating consumer demand causes the need for a strategy or inventory policy that attempts to meet consumer demand. Stockout occurs when there is no inventory, but the demand is high. These problems will adversely affect the financial aspects and quality of service in the workshop. The objectives of this study are 1) to develop an inventory policy for spare parts in AHASS AA Motor to reduce stockout and 2) to develop the program application for implementing the proposed inventory policy. The method used for inventory policy using ABC analysis and FSN analysis. The proposed inventory policy is solved by a probabilistic inventory model and joint replenishment model. The models used are in matching with the actual conditions that occur in AHASS AA Motor. Based on ABC – FSN analysis, the spare parts are classified into nine classes based on investment value and the movement from inventory, consist of 22 spare parts in AF-class, 15 spare parts in AS-class, 0 spare parts in AN-class, 18 spare parts in BF-class, 11 spare parts in BS-class, 0 spare parts in BN-class, 15 spare parts in CF-class, 20 spare parts in CS-class, and 0 spare parts in CN-class. The method used to compare the total inventory cost is the Probabilistic Inventory Model and the Joint Replenishment Model. Comparison results from using the proposed inventory policy, which is a probabilistic inventory model and joint replenishment model, AHASS AA Motor can save Rp28,979,930 by using the Joint Replenishment Model. The total cost of Joint Replenishment Model is 95.58% much lower than probabilistic inventory model, which is Rp1,341,059. For applications that have been developed, this application only focuses on displaying data entered manually based on the results of calculations with the lowest total inventory cost.
