Abstract

EVALUASI KESESUAIAN LAHAN UNTUK TANAMAN KAKAO (Theobroma cacao L.) DI KENAGARIAN SITIUNG KECAMATAN SITIUNG KABUPATEN DHARMASRAYA ABSTRAK Evaluasi kesesuaian lahan digunakan untuk menduga potensi pengembangan sumber daya lahan pada suatu lokasi tertentu. Nagarian Sitiung, Kecamatan Sitiung Kabupaten Dharmasraya dipilih sebagai lokasi penelitian, karena nagari tersebut memiliki lahan yang luas dan berpotensi untuk pengembangan perkebunan kakao. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalahuntuk menentukan kesesuaian lahan dan membuat peta kelas kesesuaian lahan berdasarkan peta satuan lahan (SL). Sampel tanah dan pengamatan lapangan dilakukan di NagariSitiung, sedangkananalisis sampel tanah dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Balai Pengkajian Teknologi Pertanian (BPTP) Sumatera Barat. Metode purposive sampling dan random sampling digunakan untuk penentuan lokasi sampel dan sampel tanah, sedangakan metode matching digunakan untuk mencocokkan kelas kesesuaian lahan dengan syarat tumbuh tanaman kakao. Hasil penelitian evaluasi kesesuaian lahan untuk tanaman kakao di Kenagarian Sitiung adalah sebagai berikut: (1) SL I (Jorong Sitiung dan piruko Utara) berada pada kelas cukup sesuai (S2) sub-kelas S2wa,nr dengan faktor pembatas ketersediaan air dan retensi hara, (2) SL II (Jorong Piruko dan Jorong Pulai) berada pada kelas sesuai marjinal dan sub kelas S3oa,nr dengan faktor pembatas drainse dan retensi hara, (3) SL III (Jorong Lawai) berada pada kelas kesesuaian lahan marjinal (S3) dan sub-kelas S3nr dengan faktor pembatas retensi hara, dan (4) SL (Jorong Padang Sidondang) berada pada kelas sesuai marjinal (S3) dan sub-kelas S3nr,eh dengan faktor pembatas retensi hara dan bahaya erosi. Kata Kunci : Evaluasi Kesesuaian Lahan, Kakao, Kenagarian Sitiung, Retensi Hara, Marjinal EVALUATION OF LAND SUITABILITY FOR COCOA (Theobroma cacao L.) PLANTS IN SITIUNG VILLAGE, SITIUNG SUBDISTRICT, DHARMASRAYA REGENCY ABSTRACT Land suitability evaluation is used to estimate the potential for land resource development at a particular location. Sitiung village, Sitiung Subdistrict, Dharmasraya Regency was chosen as the research location, because the village has a large area of land and has the potential to develop cocoa plantations. The purpose of this study is to determine land suitability and make land suitability class maps based on land unit maps.Soil samples and field observations were carried out in Sitiung village, while soil sample analyzes carried out at the Agricultural Technology Assessment Laboratory of West Sumatera. The purposive sampling and random sampling methods used to determine the location of the sample and soil sample. In contrast, the matching method used to match the land suitability class with the requirements for growing cacao plants.The results of the evaluation of land suitability for cocoa in Sitiung Village were as follows: (1) SL I (Jorong Sitiung and Jorong North Piruko) was in the appropriate class (S2) S2wa,nr sub-class, NR with limiting factors for water availability and nutrient retention, (2) SL II(Jorong South Piruko and Jorong Pulai) was in marginally suitable class and S3oa,nr sub-class with drainage and nutrient retention limiting factors, (3) SL III (Jorong Lawai) was in the marginal land suitability class (S3), and S3nr sub-class with nutrient retention limiting factors, and (4) SL IV (Jorong Padang Sidondang) was in the class according to marginal (S3) and S3nr,eh sub-classes with limiting factors for nutrient retention and erosion hazard.
