Abstract
Species diversity of the wasps (Vespidae: Hymenoptera) in Andalas University, Padang, Indonesia is studied. The sampling was undertaken in 6 different site around Andalas University under different circumstances, such as forest, buildings, bush, cafeteria, campground, and around basketball field. The wasps were collected by insect net, bait trap, and malaise trap. As result, there have been 16 species from 11genera of 4 sub-family collected and examined. The Eumeninae was most sub-family found in study sites with 6 genera and 6 individuals. The Shannon-Wiener index of the wasps was 0,8538, suggesting that the wasps is averagely diverse. Meanwhile, the evenness index is 1,6613 which demotes the stable evenness among location.
