Abstract

The grafting is one way to improve the quality of plants by attaching buds from one plant to another. Citrus types that develop in West Sumatra are generally Siam citrus. Japanese citroen is the most widely used citrus plant as a rootstock. This study aims to determine the best interaction of grafting citrus plants by using various sources of clones scion and the rootstock age of JC (Japanese citroen). This research was carried out at the Lubuk Minturun Horticultural Seed Center, koto tangah, Padang, West Sumatra from August - December 2018. This study used a two factor factorial design arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The first factor is the different types of sources of citrus clones scion consisting of 3 levels namely Siam Gunung Omeh, Madu and Pontianak and the second factor is the age of the rootstock consisting of 2 levels of treatment Age 8 and 12 Months. Data were analyzed statistically by the F test at 5% significance level, if the F count was greater than the F table then it was followed by the Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% level. The results of this study showed that there was no interaction between the source of clones scion and the age of the rootstock on the growth of grafting seedlings. The pontianak siam shows a low percentage of life and is unable to form shoots with JC rootstock both 8 months and 12 months old. The clone of scion in the gunung omeh entrance has a good influence on the results of grafting compared to pontianak and madu The 8 month JC rootstock had a good effect compared to the 12 month JC
