Abstract
Linguistics has some branches, one of them is translation. Translation is a linguistic study and an intellectual activity that has big contribution to the development of information, science, and arts among countries. The important thing in translation is that the translator has to find the closest natural equivalence of the source language into the receptor language. However, it should remain the same meaning. Translation is a change of form or transferring the meaning of source language into the recepto language. Two thing that should be concerned by translator are form and meaning. The form of source language may be different from the form of the receptor language. Translating is not an easy thing to do. The difficulties in translation are caused by the differences of language structure, lexical, culture, idiomatic expression, and figurative sense of both languages. One of the difficulties in doing translation is to find the clost natural equivalence of figurative senses. In translating the figurative sense, a translator should concern the massage of figurative senses although to changes the structural rules of the source language. Figurative language is a way of describing something that make sense or an imaginative level but not on the factual level or literal level (Whorter, 1986:214) Figurative sense can be found like in movie, poem, novel, also and our daily conversation. In this writing the writer wants to analyze the translation of figurative senses found in the movie. This movie’s setting is in English. The movie was directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, written by Julian Fellowes, and stars Emily Blunt, Rupert Friend, Miranda Richardson, and Jim Broadbent. It was produced by Graham King, Martin Scorsese, Sarah, Duchess of York, and Tim Headington.
