Abstract
The administration of Cassytha filiformis L butanol fraction in 1st and 2nd pregnancy period of mice with dose of 2.5-10 mg/KgBW inhibit the development of pregnancy, decreases the number of fetuses and or fetuses death and infertility. Meanwhile, the administration of Cassytha filiformis L butanol fraction in 3rd period did not cause death or fetal malformation. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of administration of Cassytha filiformis L butanol fraction during 3rd period of mice pregnancy to their offsprings’ growth and behavior development. In this study, 20 pregnant female mice were divided into 4 groups. Group 1 as control and groups 2-4 were treated with the fraction at a dose of 2.5, 5, and 10 mg/kg in 3rd period of pregnancy. After it gave birth, number of their offspring, body weight and body length, curiosity and motoric activity of their offspring were measured. Number of the offspring were analyzed by one-way ANOVA while the other data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA. The results showed that number of the offspring of Cassytha filiformis L. butanol fraction treated mice was less compared to the control (p<0.05). The average body weight and body length of the offspring of treated mice were greater compared to the control (p<0.05). The curiosity of the offspring of treated mice was greater than the control (p<0.05) except in the 2.5 mg/kg dose group. The motoric activity of the offspring of treated mice did not show the difference compared to the control (p>0.05). This shows that the administration of the butanol fraction of Cassytha filiformis L in 3rd period of mice pregnancy did not inhibit the growth and behavior development of the offspring of mice. Keywords : Cassytha filiformis L, butanol fraction, growth & behavior.
