Abstract
The occurrence of anemia in pregnant women is a health problem that very high incidence and fatally effected to both mother and fetus. Said to have anemia in pregnancy is if maternal hemoglobin level decreased from 11 gr/dl. Hemoglobin (Hb) is blood cells component that functioned to supply oxygen and nutrient to whole body. Low hemoglobin level of pregnant mother will adverse impact against unborn baby. One of the impact which appeared is low birth weight of baby. This happens because of lack distribution of oxygen and nutrient which is carried by the blood through placental barrier to the fetus. Thus, the process of growth and development of the fetus in the womb will be disrupted and delayed. Beside Hb level, there are many factors which cause differences birth weight to baby. Those factors are such as maternal age, birth space, maternal nutritional status, parity, prenatal care/ANC and disease during pregnancy. The aim of this research is to know the relationship of hemoglobin level on maternal anemia at term pregnancy with birth weight at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang by using research design Cross Sectional Study. This research uses secondary data which is taken from medical records of pregnant women with anemia at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang in the period January 2013 to December 2013. From this research found pregnant patients with the highest Hb level is 10,7 gr/dl which gave birth to a baby weighing 4000 gr and pregnant patients with the lowest Hb level is 4,4 gr/dl which gave birth to a baby weighing 1090 gr. From the result of bivariate analysis which uses pearson correlation test results obtained there is a significant relationship between Hb level of maternal anemia with baby weigh with p = 0,000 (P<0,05) and the degree of relationship is a strong correlation coefficient (0,725). Through this research expected to be done screening the occurrence of pregnancy with anemia to minimize the incidence of low birth weight in baby. Key word : Hemoglobin Level, Pregnancy with Anemia, Birth weight
