Abstract

ABSTRACT SYNTHESIS OF POROUS N-DOPED TiO2 USING PEROXO SOL GEL METHOD FOR DEGRADATION OF Cd(II) By : Dina Nofebriani (1510411043) Dr. Diana Vanda Wellia, M.Si dan Prof. Dr. Safni, M. Eng Porous N-doped TiO2 as photocatalyst were succesfully synthesized via peroxo sol gel method. The variation mass of polyethylene glycol (PEG) added were 0,7 gram (NTOP0,7); 1,4 gram (NTOP1,4) and 2,1 gram (NTOP2,1). N-TiO2 without PEG added was use as control. The X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis showed NTO; NTOP0,7 and NTOP1,4 revealed the presence of only antase phase, but rutile phase also presence in sample NTOP2,1. This is because the more PEG added will increase the aggregate size of the sample and amount of rutile content. Particle agregate size and rutile content has a nearly linear relationship. Diffuse Reflectance Spectra UV-Vis (DRS UV-Vis) showed the all photocatalyst exhibit the absorption in the visible range indicating that all samples were successfully modified by nitrogen. The result of BET showed photocatalyst NTO displayed type V isotherm curves but NTOP0,7; NTOP1,4 and NTOP2,1 displayed type V isotherm curves indicating that all samples are mesoporous material with pore sized ranging from 3-6 nm. Photocatalytic activity was studied for all photocatalyst in reduction of Cd(II) by 24 watt LED lamp for 150 minutes. The result revealed that NTOP0,7 had the highest photocatalytic activity of 85,1% Cd(II). Keyword: Photocalyst, anatase, N-doped TiO2 berpori, PEG, Cd(II) photoreduction
