Abstract

This research is aimed to see the relationship between domestic savings and domestic investment in Indonesia, due to Feldstein-Horioka Puzzle. This study uses a method of VAR (Vector Auto Regression) to analyze the relationship between saving and investment in Indonesia by using the Feldstein-Horioka puzzle with indicators of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in constant 2000 prices in units of billion rupiah. Gross Domestic Saving (GDS) in units of billion rupiah, and Gross Domestic investment (GDI) in units of billion rupiah too, over the past 31 years, from 1980 to 2010. For the result it shows that there is long-run dynamic relationship between saving and investment in Indonesia which can see from the unit root test. For the short-run dynamic relationship between saving and investment in Indonesia, it can see from the impulse response and variance decomposition analysis.
