Abstract

This study aims to predict bankruptcy in hotel, restaurant, and tourism companies by using bankruptcy prediction models and strategic analysis. The hotel, restaurant, and tourism sector is one of the sectors that contributes significant foreign exchange to the State of Indonesia. Economic, social, cultural, legal, security, and natural shocks greatly affect the business continuity of hotel, restaurant, and tourism companies. Effective corporate strategies will help companies face such shocks. The bankruptcy prediction models used in this study are the Altman, Springate, Grover, and Zmijewski models. The population used in this study consists of hotel, restaurant, and tourism companies listed on the Stock Exchange for a period of five years and includes six companies. The results show that the Zmijewski model provides the highest prediction accuracy of 93%, followed by the Springate model at 90%, the Altman model at 47%, and the Grover model at 17%. However, the Springate model is considered the most effective because it best matches the actual conditions experienced by the companies. In general, the companies studied apply intensive, diversification, integration, and defensive strategies to maintain their going concern. Based on this study, further research is recommended to expand the number of samples and to increase the use of financial ratios and non-financial aspects.
