Abstract
Transmigration is an effort to increase population and labor distribution, as well as to open and develop new production areas. Transmigration is one of the reasons for the interaction between different ethnic groups. One of the transmigration destinations, which has a diverse ethnic group, is Nagari Sopan Jaya. This research begins with the question of how interactions occur between native ethnic groups and immigrant ethnic groups in the transmigration area, and what factors influence these interactions. This study aims to describe the interactions between the Minangkabau ethnic group and immigrant ethnic groups and the factors that influence these interactions between the Minangkabau people as the indigenous people of Nagari Sopan Jaya. This study is explained using a descriptive qualitative research method and uses data collection techniques through observation, interviews and literature studies. The determination of informants uses a purposive technique, namely by determining key informants and ordinary informants. Key informants are community leaders, indigenous youth, heads of RT, heads of RW, elders who understand a lot about Sopan Jaya. While ordinary informants are the Minangkabau community and the immigrant ethnic groups living in Jorong Sopan Jaya. The results of this study reveal the interactions that occur between the Minangkabau ethnic group as the native ethnic group in Sopan Jaya village and immigrant ethnic groups including the Javanese, Sundanese, Batak, and Madurese. In these interactions, there are assumptions in them, both positive and negative assumptions. Interactions will also give rise to cooperation and conflict. The cooperation that occurs covers many aspects of life, from religious aspects, social aspects, cultural aspects, to aspects of social organization, while the conflicts that occur do not lead to physical contact. The conflicts that occur are not conflicts that lead to physical contact but rather negative assumptions that are increasing day by day. Conflicts that lead to physical contact occurred in the 1990s, namely differences of opinion during the election of the village head. This conflict involved the Minangkabau and Javanese ethnic groups. In Sopan Jaya village, there is a dominant culture. The dominant culture is Minangkabau culture. This cultural dominance is seen in various sectors of life from the government sector, organizational sectors to the economic sector. Factors that influence interactions between ethnic groups in the village Sopan Jaya is a factor of distance from home, religious factors, economic factors and inter-ethnic marriage factors.
