Abstract
Value added is the increase in a product's value after it undergoes a processing stage. This increase creates a higher price and greater profit than the product's value before processing. This research was conducted at the Asliko citronella processing business in Limau Manis Selatan Village, Pauh District, Padang City. This study aims to describe the process and analyze the value added from processing citronella into essential oil at the Asliko business. This research used a case study method with primary data. The data were analyzed qualitatively to describe the processing method and quantitatively using the Hayami method to analyze the value added. The citronella essential oil processing includes raw material input, water heating, distillation, separating the oil and water (hydrosol), and packaging. The research findings indicate that the value added is Rp 2,206.5 per kg of raw material, with a high value-added ratio of 71.63%. The profit obtained is Rp 2,199.5 per kg of raw material, with a profit margin of 71.41%. The distribution of the value added reveals that the largest share is allocated to the company’s profit (85.25%), while other contributions account for 14.48%, and only 0.27% goes to labor wages. Considering that the smallest portion of the value added is allocated to labor wages, it's recommended that the company pay closer attention to its employees' compensation and adjust it according to applicable standards.
