Abstract

Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is one of the most common anasthetic effect complained and occurs in 20-30% patients with general anesthesia. It can contribute bad impact due to patient recovery, increase the length of stay and medical expenses. The aim of this study is to determine the incidence of PONV after general anesthesia in RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang. This is an observational descriptive study, conducted in August 2019 at recovery room Instalasi Bedah Sentral RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang. The subjects for this study are consisted of eighty patients undergoing surgery with general anesthesia taken by using purposive sampling technique. The results showed that out of 80 patients studied, 18 patients experienced PONV (22,5%). PONV were commonly happened in women (37,84%), group of 41-60 years old (36%), group with no history of smoking (29,51%), and group with ASA I (24,24%). The incidence of PONV was 77,78% occured in group with history of motion sickness. It was also 100% occured in group with history of PONV previously, and 16,22% occured in group with no history of PONV. The incidence of PONV in this study was also happened based on some others factors, such as BMI, ethnics, type of surgery, duration of surgery, type of antiemetic, type of general anesthesia medication, and type of analgesic used. In conclusion, the PONV incidence was similar with the previous study and this may be influenced by patients, surgical, and anesthesia factor. Abstrak Mual dan muntah pascaoperasi atau Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV)merupakan salah satu efek anestesi yang sering dikeluhkan dan terjadi pada 20-30% dari semua pasien yang mendapatkan anestesi umum. PONV dapat memberikan dampak buruk terhadap pemulihan pasien, menambah masa rawatan dan meningkatkan biaya pengobatan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui angka kejadian PONV di RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional deskriptif yang dilakukan pada bulan Agustus 2019 di recovery room Instalasi Bedah Sentral RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang. Sampel sebanyak 80 pasien yang operasi dengan anestesi umum diambil menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian didapatkan sebanyak 18 dari 80 pasien (22,5%) mengalami PONV.Kejadian PONV terbanyak terjadi pada perempuan (37,84%), usia 41-60 tahun (36%), tidak memiliki riwayat merokok (29,51%), dan pada kelompok ASA I (24,24%). Kejadian PONV terjadi sebesar 77,78% pada kelompok yang punya riwayat mabuk perjalanan dan 15,49% pada yang tidak memiliki riwayat mabuk perjalanan. PONV juga terjadi sebesar 100% pada kelompok yang punya riwayat PONV sebelumnya, dan16,22% pada yang tidak memiliki riwayat PONV sebelumnya. Gambaran kejadian PONV pada penelitian ini juga dilihat berdasarkan beberapa faktor lainnya yaitu BMI, suku, jenis operasi, durasi operasi, jenis antiemetik, jenis obat anestesi umum, dan jenis analgetik yang digunakan. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah angka kejadian PONV yang tidak jauh berbeda dengan studi yang pernah dilakukan sebelumnya dan hal ini mungkin dipengaruhi oleh faktor pasien, faktor operasi, dan faktor anestesi.
