Abstract

Voltage stability is a crucial factor in electrical systems to ensure the reliability of electrical equipment. Voltage fluctuations, such as overvoltage and undervoltage, can cause damage to electronic devices, operational failures, and even safety hazards. This study aims to design and develop a relay control system based on a Solid State Relay (SSR) equipped with overvoltage and undervoltage protection, as well as an autorecloser feature. The system utilizes a PZEM-004T sensor for voltage measurement, an Arduino Mega 2560 as the control unit, and an SSR as the circuit-breaking actuator. The test results indicate that the system effectively detects and responds to voltage faults, with an average response time of 79.66 ms for overvoltage and 80 ms for undervoltage. Although slightly slower than the IEEE instantaneous relay standard (≤20 ms), the system operates significantly faster than time-delayed relays (≥200 ms - 5 seconds), ensuring effective protection. The autorecloser feature allows the system to automatically reconnect the circuit once the fault is cleared, with an average reclose time of 97.6 ms for overvoltage and 88 ms for undervoltage. Thus, the developed system enhances the reliability and security of power distribution and can be applied across various usage scenarios, including industrial and residential sectors..
