Abstract

The study aimed to determine the Agricultural Extension Officer’s role and the success rate of agriculture extension in the Luak Lalang Livestock Farmers Group, Nagari Mungo, Luak District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. The study was conducted in September 2024 with 27 farmers who received counselling related to beef cattle maintenance systems as respondents. The results of the study showed that the role and level of success of the Agricultural Extension Officers in the Luak Lalang Livestock Farmers Group, Lima Puluh Kota Regency, was classified as a good category, showed by a positive response from the majority of farmers to the role. Overall, the role and performance of extension workers in the Luak Lalang Livestock Farmers Group have succeeded in improving the welfare of farmers through effective coaching and increased livestock productivity. Based on the assessment of the role of extension workers, 96.30% of the role of the facilitator, 96.30% of the role of motivators, 92.59% of the role of educators, and 100% of the role of the communicator was included in the good category. The success of the instructor showed 96.30% participation of breeders, including in the good category, 92.59% of breeders' knowledge was also included in the good category, and 100% of livestock productivity, including in the good category.
