Abstract

Inventory is an unavoidable element in every organization. This is indicated by the value of inventory which represents 50% of the total capital invested by the company, so inventory needs to be managed optimally. PT X is one of the manufacturing companies in West Sumatra. Like other manufacturing companies, PT X also experiences problems related to its inventory management. One type of inventory in this company is the inventory of Maintenance, Repair, and Operation (MRO) goods. Based on the results of interviews and data obtained from the company, it is known that the inventory of goods is overstocked. Therefore, inventory planning control is needed to reduce the total inventory cost of MRO goods in the company. The stages carried out are, classifying MRO items using the ABC-FSN classification, calculating the actual inventory costs in 2023, then calculating the proposed inventory costs using continuous review system and periodic review system, and then analyzing the comparison between the actual and proposed total inventory costs. 9 classes are obtained based on the classification process, namely AF, AS, AN, BF, BS, BN, CF, CS, and CN with the number of items in order, namely 2, 3, 7, 12, 5, 12, 39, 64 and 48 items. Planning and control are carried out in Category I (AF and AS) and Category II (BF and BS), and Category III (AN, BN, CF, CN, and CS) does not use an inventory planning method. Category I will be managed by continuous review system and Category II will be managed by periodic review system. The results obtained from the proposed inventory policy are the total cost of the proposed inventory is Rp4.470.049559,74. The cost is 26.56% lower than the current policy that applied, which is Rp6.086.850,56.
